First Tee Programs Help Children with Golf and Life

The president of the Wallis Printing Company in Georgia, Timothy Sanders Wallis earned a BBA in management from the University of Georgia, where he was awarded the HOPE scholarship. In his free time, T. Sanders Wallis works with the First Tee of Metro Atlanta, an organization that uses the game of golf to impact children's lives.

The First Tee of Metro Atlanta offers life skills training and golf training to young people aged 8 to 17 who live in the metropolitan Atlanta area. Through these programs, First Tee promotes nine core values: responsibility, honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, confidence, respect, courtesy, perseverance, and judgment.

The national First Tee program has served over 10,000 elementary schools. The program is integrated with physical education classes and provided physical education instructors with equipment, training, and lesson plans that help them teach values and life skills along with the game of golf.

First Tee also reaches young people through its community programs, which are in partnership with youth centers, such as the Boys and Girls Club and YMCA. The community programs give volunteer leaders and professionals working in youth centers tools that include equipment, training, resources, and lesson plans.
